Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013: Multi-Company Data Synchronization
This functionality has been greatly enhanced and it is also available in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015. You can see updated information at the following links:
One of the limitations of Dynamics NAV 2013 is its ability to manage configuration and data across multiple companies. EmergeNext ADNM has developed a synchronization tool that allows for both one-way and two-way synchronization of data across multiple companies. Currently, in the Dynamics NAV 2013 version, the tool is synchronizing GL Accounts and Account Schedules. Upon request, the tool can also be upgraded to include other master data items like Customers, Vendors, and Items.
The synchronization is very powerful because it uses optional web services capability to allow renames of master records (G/L Accounts) and manages the renaming of records across multiple companies in the database in real-time so that the record modifications are not cached and executed only when another company is opened.
The tool also allows “two-way” synchronization. Parent/child relationships are setup in a custom table (see picture below) and the relationships are flexible so that all companies can be “parents” and “child” companies. This allows a record modification to be performed in any company; if the system administrators choose to allow this configuration.
